December 22nd, 2009: Guys I got SO MANY great footers, and just in time, because winter just started here in Canada!

Here's the ones I got:

SO AWESOME, you guys! I slept on it to decide which one, and it was really tough. I decided to go with Paul's version (which you can now see at the bottom of the page, only I moved the snowman over some!) but it was hard to decide. Thank you all again! I am really grateful for each of you who sent something in, and I know how lucky I am as a non-artist that I can ask people for design elements and they just show up with awesome awesome things. Woo!

Andrew's Christmas List [Dec. 22nd, 2009|06:00 am]

My husband found this wish list sometime in July or August. I wonder if Andrew is still bitter that he didn't get a pet rhino, or if he understands that his demanding wishes will take more than a few weeks to fulfill.

Burning and Urinating [Dec. 22nd, 2009|06:00 am]

After returning to the elevator of my old apartment building, I found this next to the entrance. The elevator was carpeted from floor to ceiling and had absolutely no ventilation to relieve itself from the unmistakable stench.

What Billion Died And Left Me Critic? [Dec. 21st, 2009|10:58 am]

this should be no surprise, but the chinese food here (even in oh-so-authentic chinatown) is really not as good at all as food in actual china or HK. it's probably because they use our north american weirdo factory farmed ingredients instead of real food, and because people don't really know the difference, and put a mixture of soy and hot sauces on anything and it will taste good.

i'm just bitter because the food i got from our new giant asian supermarket was really not good. the bbq pork was more like bbq fat, the dim sum things had no flavour except flour, and the piece of resistance, the expensive mangosteens i got (5-10 times the malaysian price) were picked so green that they were rock solid though it didn't stop them from being half-rotten.

there have to be actually good chinese restaurants around, oh t&t's cuttlefish balls were amazing to their credit, but i don't know how to find them.

all i really want is a wantan mee:

December 21st, 2009: I received some amazing winter footers! I'll leave this up one more day and put up the winner tomorrow. Thanks every! And here's what I'm talking about (from Friday): Okay so it's WINTER and I've still got that fall footer at the bottom of the page. Just like what I did for fall, I'm having a winter footer contest. Send me your best 1000x96 (it can be a bit taller if you want) image that loops, and I'll pick the winner and put it up on the site! Also, if you send in a URL I'll link to your URL with your submission.

Here's the fall version and the fall background image I use for looping. When I say "loops" I mean that the left-hand side of the image is the same as the right-hand side of the image, so when they're tiled horizontally they go together nicely. The background image is just repetitive part of the larger image without much detail to it that I can use for tiling.

Send them in if you're interested, and thanks!

Pretty Koko [Dec. 21st, 2009|06:00 am]

This was inside of a book of cat pictures. Apparently this old lady lost her beloved kitty Koko and was practically inconsolable so her daughter bought her this book. The whole book was full of quotes and poems that she wrote. Poor old cat lady.

Bingo Balls. [Dec. 20th, 2009|07:47 pm]

25, you're an interesting age. by now you can tell, more or less, what people think is important in the world, and in their lives.

before this everyone was corralled together through the school system, with only a few exceptions: people who would rather than go to high school either sleep&watch tv or take care of a child. then after high school, you had the great post-secondary separator, but it's only a few different schools, and then the different majors. more or less the high school class was split broadly into: arts (it is my joy to reside here), science, trades or working. other than that one decision, though, there wasn't much else to tell about people.

by now most people have been graduated from their programs for a while and have started to show themselves. i've lately been reading a lot of notable quotables on the internet, and one of them is "you do what you are, and you become what you do". here at 25 nobody has actually become anything yet, but they're in the process of doing what they are.

people are narrowing their focuses, and every action now is their own decision, and if it isn't that too is their own decision. they spend their money and time on whatever they want, and that's how you can tell what they think is important.

this period is sort of like a big box with lots of tubes coming out of it and being shaken up (by a giant, or god or some other type of monster) and some people have found their random tube to go down and some people are still shaking around in the box.

anyway, 25, you're an interesting age

I found this note stuck on the inside cover of Running in Heels, by Anna Maxted. I'm convinced its good luck because the lady only charged me 50 cents for the 23 books I picked out. Oh, and there really were crumbs inside, or maybe it was sand from the beach.

evp is the phenomenon of being dumb because you can hear patterns in static that exist in all static, except this static was recorded in a house you think is haunted and it’s on a show on travel channel

also guys — if you haven’t changed your rss feed yet, chainsawsuit got a new one!! you’re gonna miss the goods. also it should be fixed now

thank god for boner meds, bro

now i don’t have to be dignified and old, i can just keep going and bragging to my friends at the golf course

yeah me and my woman, you know, we got two of those huge, 600-pound clawfoot tubs and just dragged them across a quarter-mile of beach sand to sit them down in front of the ocean

we also had to leave the car running to use the portable 55-gallon water heater i installed so the splash-splash could be all warmy-warms

then i tooks my boner-maker so’s my ladygirl and i could make a humpy-dump in about an hour

oh no we forgot the tubbbbsssss
